HiChina May Get Listed On Domestic A-share Market

According to Chinabyte, HiChina’s vice president Zhou Mao said at China Internet Conference 2007 that HiChina may get listed on domestic A-share market. HiChina is one of China’s largest domain name and web hosting services providers and It is founded in 1996 and invested by American based IDG Venture Capital and Newbridge Capital. Having made profits since 2002, HiChina possesses the basic conditions to be listed.

The Number Of Internet Users Exceeds 162 Million In China

At today’s China Internet Conference 2007 (i-world) in Beijing, Xi Guohua, Vice Minister of Information Industry, said that by the end of June this year the number of Chinese Net-surfers had exceeded 162 million, 122 million of them surf the Internet through broadband and the net-surfers with wireless phone reached 44.3 million.

Currently, the Internet penetration rate between urban and rural areas is different from four times. The Internet penetration rate in rural areas is only 5.1%, while that of cities and towns has reached 21.6%. According to Xi Guohua, The Internet and broadband will be promoted in rural areas from now on.

Baidu Started Up Its Olympic Strategy

Baidu announced that will start up its Olympic Strategy at 2008.baidu.com. Differing from Sina, Sohu and Tencent,etc., Baidu will offer Olympic search traffic guidance, Net-surfers interaction, Net-surfers behaviour analysis at 2008.baidu.com. Yesterday, Baidu also published Net-surfers Olympic Search Report.

Baidu launchs Online Games Channel

Recently the entry of online games channel emgers on Baidu’s pages. Online games channal is a new product of Baidu. According to Chenfeng, a manager of Baidu, they pay great attention to user’s experience. And Baidu defines the new product as “online games search and community”. “This product bases on Baidu Search Engine, so there is hardly artificial management and the form still follows “simplicity and dependence”. Someone who is on homepage of the games channel can find the games who wants through less than four pages.” said Zhang Yi, another developer.

Currently the profitable model of this product is mainly advertising, but they want to try others model in the future.
